my childhood 25gal tank; finally all set back up

My brother and I bought this tank when we were about 10ish with our birthday money. Of course the gravel/decorations have changed through the years, and my aunt had the tank for a while, then my grandma put it into storage for the past 5yrs or so... But now I've got it back and it's all set up. :) The stand was custom made for it by my uncle (a welder).

Now, what fish to put it in? I WILL be getting a plecostemous algea eater, I loved my old one. I'm also thinking a couple of angel fish, maybe a few tetras or something... What else? Of course only thinking a total of about 10 fish or so, so that it isn't overcrowded, but I would like a fair variety of not-too-expensive species.

Thanks!
Here's a close-up of the tank, and one including the stand, and one of my cats investigating... lol!

Mommy to one, step-mom to more, parent of several 4-legged & furry "kids".

Hoping to get a colony of Triops going to entertain the masses in my home and possibly gift some eggs and info to some of my friends and family.

~~ If anyone has a multitude of eggs and no clue what to do with them feel free to send them my way... :P ~~

We went to my local petshop, very knowledgable people in there. :) We are going to start with a small pleco, and about 4 each neons, fruity tetras, and green tiger barbs. The barbs are like your typical tiger barbs, but with a genetic mutation so that their body is a velvety looking solid dark green, and they are stunted in size slightly. We're going back tomorrow afternoon to get them, we were just pricing today. I'll try and remember to post a pic once they're in there. Later on we plan to add a couple of angel fish, maybe a betta, maybe some fancy male guppies, maybe a cory cat... Who knows? :P

Alrighty, someone bought up the neons I was going to get... So we've got a pleco, 4 green tiger barbs, 4 fruity tetras, and 2 fancy male guppies all acclimating to my tank. Once they're released into their new home later I'll add a pic or two. :)
