Just double checked, now I'm starting to think they're all fairy shrimp. Can you tell me the size of them? |

Do they look like triops? If they're that long they should definitely look exactly like a triops. |

The new video helped, they're all fairy shrimp. If I were you though, I wouldn't throw them out.... I'd take their eggs, put enough to keep them going in the triops' tank, and use them as a food source....

Those are all fairy shrimp, but you have both males and females- they should breed. You won't get babies since they only lay eggs but if you dry it out after they all die you can hatch out more as triops food or just keep them, too, which is what I do. |

If you see on the vid i have put the other half of the eggs in the tank. Hopefully the other half will hatch some triops. if i get triops will the 100s little fleas or what ever they are be a constat food sorce? I think the 2 big fairy shrimp will be to big for the triops to eat of they hatch and grow. |

The fairy shrimp are already fully grown. So they can and will be eaten. One triops can consume hundreds of fairy shrimp, so I wouldn't count on them surviving long. Also, triops should be hatched out in distilled or spring water- they might hatch out, but since the water was already 'used' they may not. Don't worry if they don't, just dry them out and try again, this time with fresh water. |

Wow some of your fairy shrimp actually have eggs already! I know you're probably frustrated since you are seeking triops but you have the potential for a healthy fairy shrimp colony there! Something I try and try to do myself with only very limited success. Whatever you're doing, keep it up! But indeed if you wish to keep them, don't mix triops! Your fairy shrimp will disappear at an alarming rate. |

Ok thanks. These fairy shrimp seem to still be growing daily but i dont know they moving gravel around that must be heaver then there body weight. There seems to be 50 more white dots per day swimming around lol. The water is now a mix of de/ironised water and distilled water im still not sure about the water side of it. Should i use distilled water for the first few weeks and get diffrent water to mix later? |

As you will have seen on the vid i have small gravel and bigger stones in one corner of my tank. Im going to see what snails i can find in a fish shop tonight and i was going to get some sand aswell. Would it be ok to pour sand into the tank while my fairy shrimp are swimming around? if i pour small bits of sand at a time. Also i have put the other half of the triop eggs into the middle of the tank so if i put sand on top of them (a small layer) will they hatch? or do the eggs float in the water? Will the fairy shrimp lay eggs in the sand like triops do and i can just dry the sand out and have both types of eggs in the sand? If i have no triops this go i would get a load of sand with fairy shrimps to use as food. If my triops dont work this time my T cancriformis should be hear today or tomorow from dadasis and if im sucessful with getting eggs from these i think i will stick to this type. cheers |
