Triops baby and fairy shrimp baby

Here is a photo of a 2 1/2 days old triops baby, and a fairy shrimp of the same age...

I don't have a macro lens for my camera, so the pictures are not very good.. :sorry:

(Oh, and the glass bowl, that the triops are currently living in, is apparently made in France. )

Edit: I see that I have misspelled 'triops' in the post-topic. Can a moderator fix it?)

Thank you, Shadowsky. :)

Hopefully my triops babies will become helthy adults. If they do I can post pictures of them as they grow.

I fixed it for ya. :) But it's not a big deal for me if our topic titles are misspelled. :)

Great pictures!

Great pictures! How'd you manage to get the shrimp at only 2 days old? They're so TINY at that age!
Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.

Thank you, Kannachan13. :D It's nice to hear the photos are good enough! Yes, the shrimp was tiny! I shot the pictures with a Canon EOS 1000 camera, but with a macro lens the pictures would have been much better!

Well, here are some photos I took today (The triops are 3 days old and about 3-4 mm long):

On this last photo you can see a tiny triops munching on a tiiiiny bit of detrius.

I forgot to mention, if you want to keep the fairy shrimp alive you'll have to move it to a separate tank.

Yes, I guess the triops will eat them if they get the chance.

I have moved most of the shrimps to the tank where the triops will live when they get bigger. I don't mind if the shrimps get eaten, but I moved them to the other tank to see if the it was ready to house some triops. I guess it is, because the shrimps are still alive. :) Or are fairy shrimps more hardy than triops when it comes to water parameters?

At least for me, fairy shrimps are a lot easier to kill. (I've had three tanks fail in the last few weeks. Luckily I found a good seller on ebay- got 10,000 eggs for about $5 after shipping.)

Well, so far so good. My triops are still growing, allthough some of them have been eaten by the bigger ones in the process... The fairy shrimps are still alive and well, too, but maybe not for long since the triops will move in with them in a few days...

Here are some pictures I took of the triops two days ago.

Yummy! Plants make good food too! I had barely added the plant before the triops were exploring it.
Posted Image
How adorable! The baby triops is swimming on it's back and seems to be looking straight in the camera lens.

The biggest of them are about 12 mm in length (without the spikes on it's tail).

What type of plant is that? Some kind of lily pad?

It's a Limnobium laevigatum.

I think it's english name is 'Amazon frogbit'. :) It floats on the surface while the roots hang down in the water. I really like this plant!

Okay, my idea.
That stuff is so pretty. It's apparently invasive, but good for people like me who don't have the technology to make their plants grow quickly. I'm getting some next time I order from wilmasthecause.org.

I think I might have posted misinformation... Is it possible that this plant is not Limnobium, but Pistia? Either way, it's still a beautiful and useful plant! :)

Thanks to all of you. :) It's nice to hear you like the photos.

Ducky; It's regular L. longicaudatus, so you must have seen babies like that many times before. :) They are exeptionally cute, though...

Yesterday I fed them microworms, and they really loved it! The worms were 'gone in 60 seconds'... :D After that they didn't seem too interested in the pellets...
